Safety Precaution

Always check the ice condition before you start sailing. Drill holes in the area where you are going to sail in to test ice thickness. Especially important in the beginning of the season. Make sure the ice thickness is not less than 4 inch and hard (known as black ice). Never go on the ice alone. Wear a life jacket, helmet and have an ice pick with you at all times. Ice/snow sailing & kitesurfing are a wonderful winter sport. Play it safe at all times.

2nd weekend in a row the God of wind came thru. Again Friday December 17, 2010 started out great for sailing right into Saturday. Ice surface condition by Kitebeach at Glenwood Beach Park Lake Simcoe was excellent with powder snow on top.  Even a few people were out there ice fishing.

A group of kiteboarders were sailing by Walters Drive were parking is not prohibited unlike at Glenwood. If you do sail by this area please make sure you park across the street so you won’t get ticketed by the police.
